Dominican Republic to host the 2026 International Olympic Solidarity Forum
The Dominican Republic has been selected as the epicenter of continental sport, as it has been confirmed that it will host the 2026 International Olympic Solidarity Forum for the Americas. The meeting is scheduled to take place from August 17 to 21, bringing together the main representatives of the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) from across the continent.
The central objective of this event is to detail the services, benefits, and support programs offered by the international organization to American nations. Likewise, intensive working sessions will be dedicated to coordinating the strategies of the Heads of Mission and technical directors, who are already working on strategic planning for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Strategic planning for Los Angeles 2028
The news was confirmed following the official visit of Camila Carvalho, coordinator of the Olympic Solidarity program of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), to the headquarters of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD). There, she was received by the organization’s secretary general, Luis Chanlatte, to finalize the details of what will be a key event for the Olympic cycle.
It is a pleasure for us to be welcomed here and it is a pleasure that this 2026 forum will be held here in the Dominican Republic, since this year’s forum is very important for the preparation of the 2028 Olympic Games.

Carvalho emphasized that the support of Panam Sports will be fundamental to the success of the forum. Furthermore, he announced that Olympic Solidarity will allocate significant financial resources during this cycle, in order to optimize the opportunities for athletes from affiliated countries to secure their qualification for the Olympic event in California.
A commitment to sports development
For his part, Luis Chanlatte expressed the pride it represents for Dominican sports to host the delegations from the Americas. “This constitutes a great honor for us, to serve as hosts for this international meeting,” the leader pointed out during the tour of the Olympic facilities.
The forum will serve as a platform for delegates and technical staff to learn firsthand about the operational aspects necessary for the management of delegations. With this designation, the country reaffirms its commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and the professionalization of sport in the face of the challenges imposed by the road to Los Angeles 2028.
