INEFI delivers a modern covered court at the iconic La Perito Polytechnic
The National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI), under the leadership of Alberto Rodríguez Mella, took a transcendental step in strengthening school sports with the inauguration of the new roofed facility at the Instituto Politécnico Profesor Víctor Rafael Estrella Liz, popularly known as “La Perito”. This infrastructure, which required an investment of RD$16,170,000.00, will directly benefit more than 800 students and the surrounding community in the National District.
This project aligns with the central government’s commitment to provide educational centers with quality sports facilities. The main objective is to offer Dominican youth healthy alternatives that foster discipline, civic coexistence, and distance from vulnerable environments.
When we build a roof like this, we are not just erecting a structure of steel and concrete; we are building dreams, opportunities, and hope. Here, athletes will be formed, but above all, citizens with values, discipline, and a sense of community.

A space for community impact
The new roof will not be exclusive for academic use, but is positioned as a vital meeting point for residents of sectors such as Ensanche La Fe, Cristo Rey, Villas Agrícolas, Ensanche Luperón, Villa Juana, and Ensanche Naco. The facility will serve as a stage for sports competitions, cultural events, graduation ceremonies, and social activities that will strengthen the human fabric of these neighborhoods.
Historical legacy of La Perito
The choice of this educational center is not accidental, given its deep footprint in Dominican history. Founded in 1945, “La Perito” has been the cradle of prominent figures who have marked the country’s public life. Among its most distinguished graduates are:
- Jacobo Majluta Azar, former President of the Republic.
- Freddy Beras-Goico, legendary communicator.
- Aníbal Díaz, prominent educator and sports leader.
- Pedro Jiménez, renowned communications professional.
- Franklin García Fermín, jurist and former Minister of Higher Education.
With more than 80 years of history, the institution continues to be a benchmark in technical training in areas such as commerce, logistics, gastronomic services, and technology. The delivery of this infrastructure reaffirms the authorities’ vision that sports and education are the fundamental pillars for the integral development of future Dominican generations.
