Tragic murder of 24-year-old youth shakes the Baracoa sector in Santiago
A violent event has shocked the residents of the Baracoa sector in Santiago de los Caballeros, following the fatal shooting of Amaury Saviñón, a 24-year-old man who lost his life on a public street this Friday afternoon.
The attack was perpetrated on García Copey street, where two individuals on a motorcycle intercepted the victim and shot him at least eight times before fleeing in an unknown direction. The speed and precision of the attack have generated great concern in the local community.

Police authorities and the Public Prosecutor’s Office have initiated the corresponding investigations to clarify the facts. Currently, the security cameras installed in the area are the key piece to identify those responsible and determine the escape route of the aggressors.
Security footage constitutes one of the main pieces of evidence that authorities have to try to identify those responsible and establish the circumstances under which the homicide was committed.
Although the hypothesis of a possible planned attack is being handled, so far the motive for the crime has not been established nor have any direct suspects been identified. The case remains under strict investigation while additional evidence is being collected at the scene.
