Jurickson Profar Receives Harsh Sanction and Misses the Season
The Atlanta Braves’ designated hitter, Jurickson Profar, has been suspended for 162 games, which will prevent him from playing for the entire season, according to sources. The suspension is due to a second violation of the performance-enhancing substances policy.
This news means a hard blow for Profar and for the Braves, who will have to adjust their game strategy in the absence of the key player.
Profar will lose his season salary and will not be able to participate in the World Baseball Classic.
As a result of this sanction, Profar will lose his season salary, estimated at 15 million dollars, and will not be able to participate in the postseason.
Furthermore, the player will not be able to represent the Netherlands in the next World Baseball Classic, an event in which his participation was expected.
In March 2025, Profar had been suspended for 80 games after testing positive for human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG).
Signed for three years and $42 million after his best season with the San Diego Padres, Profar returned in mid-2025 and left with a .245 batting average, 14 home runs, and 43 RBIs.
