Abadina Launches U19 Youth Tournament with Special Dedication
Santo Domingo, RD. The Basketball Association of the National District (Abadina) will kick off its first tournament of the year this Saturday, marking the beginning of the youth championship (U19) in the male and female categories. The venue for this exciting competition will be the sports complex of the Ensanche Luperón club. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at the mentioned facilities. This tournament, which promises to be a sporting spectacle, will feature the participation of 28 men’s clubs and six women’s clubs. This year’s edition is dedicated to the Minister of Youth of the Dominican Republic, Carlos José Valdez Matos. Carlos José Valdez Matos, appointed by President Luis Abinader, is a civil engineer and politician who assumed his position in July 2024. His management focuses on promoting inclusive policies, entrepreneurship, and the integral development of Dominican youth.Edwin Castillo (Tatico), president of Abadina, offered details about the tournament through a press release, highlighting the dedication to Minister Valdez Matos. Castillo also emphasized the participation of the 28 youth clubs (U19) in the men’s division and the six women’s teams.Minister Valdez Matos is an ally of sports in the Capital city and throughout the country, in favor of children and young people.

The men’s teams have been distributed into four groups:
- Group A: Ensanche Luperón, Los Prados, Nuevo Horizontes, Orlando Martínez, Los Gladiadores, San Lázaro and Los Pioneros.
- Group B: Rafael Paulino, Mauricio Báez, Rosa Duarte, Honduras del Oeste, La Ciénaga, Bameso and Dosa.
- Group C: Huellas del Siglo, Rafael Leónidas Solano, San Carlos, María Auxiliadora, Reales del Caliche, Manganagua and Rafael Barias.
- Group D: Gregorio Luperón, Simón Bolívar, Jardines del Norte, Montaño, Rottweiler, El Millón and Naco.
