Ketel Marte Reinforces Dominican Republic for the 2026 World Baseball Classic
The Dominican Republic’s selection continues to add renowned figures for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. On this occasion, the team is strengthened with the incorporation of Ketel Marte, a prominent Major League player, who will contribute his talent and experience to the national team.
Mars, known as “the Nizao kid”, prepares for his second participation in the tournament. His versatility, both in batting and in the field, makes him a key element for Dominican aspirations.
The presence of Marte joins that of other MLB stars who have already confirmed their participation, including Fernando Tatis Jr. and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who were previously announced.
The pitching staff has also received significant reinforcements with the integration of Wandy Peralta and Gregory Soto. Peralta, with his experience and control, and Soto, with his powerful arm, will strengthen the team’s bullpen.
Dominican Republic will begin its participation in Group D of the World Baseball Classic on March 6, facing Nicaragua at 7:00 PM (Eastern Time) at loanDepot park in Miami.
