SANTO DOMINGO – The outstanding right-handed pitcher Sandy Alcántara, of the Miami Marlins, has successfully completed the necessary procedures to represent the Dominican Republic in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.The 2022 National League Cy Young Award winner already participated with the Dominican team in the 2023 WBC, where he demonstrated his high level.In the mentioned season, Alcántara led MLB in innings pitched, complete games, and shutouts, solidifying himself as one of the most outstanding starters in baseball.Despite suggestions to prioritize rest and protect his professional future, the pitcher chose to defend his country’s colors, reiterating his commitment to the nation.Along with Alcántara, Fernando Tatis Jr., Oneil Cruz, and Cristopher Sánchez have also been confirmed for the Dominican team, adding talent to the group of players who will participate in the tournament.
