Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon was involved in a car accident on a Connecticut highway, which resulted in significant damage to his Bentley and two other vehicles. The incident occurred Thursday morning on the Merritt Parkway in Westport, according to a state police report. McMahon was cited for reckless driving and for following at a very close distance to the vehicle in front. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the accident. McMahon was released after posting a $500 bail and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on August 26. The images of the accident, taken by Barbara Doran, one of the people involved, revealed considerable damage to the front of McMahon’s 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed. Damage was also observed on the rear of Doran’s BMW 430. According to the police report, McMahon was driving north on the highway, also known as Route 15, when he rear-ended the BMW, causing the vehicle to hit a wooden guardrail. A car traveling south struck debris from the accident that flew over the guardrail. The police confirmed that there were no passengers in any of the vehicles and that the three drivers were wearing seatbelts. McMahon’s car airbags deployed, but not Doran’s.

Doran, a New York City resident, recounted that she was driving in the right lane when she was hit by McMahon’s vehicle. The impact caused her car to leave the road.

I was driving in the right lane and, suddenly, boom. I was hit from behind and catapulted forward and you can see the tire marks where I was desperately trying to stay on the road.

Doran reported that a state police officer told him that the other driver was McMahon, whom he did not know well. After the accident, they both talked.

He just, you know, expressed concern, was glad I was okay and all that. And I thanked him for his concern.

This incident occurred a few hours before the news of Hulk Hogan’s death was announced, who was praised by McMahon. McMahon resigned as WWE CEO in 2022, amid an internal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. Last year, he also stepped down as executive chairman of the board of directors of TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent company, one day after a former WWE employee filed a sexual abuse lawsuit against him. McMahon has denied the allegations, and the lawsuit is ongoing. McMahon acquired what was then the World Wrestling Federation in 1982, transforming it from a regional wrestling company into a global phenomenon. In addition to running the company with his wife, Linda, who is currently the United States Secretary of Education, he also participated in WWE events as himself.
