Satou Sabally Out With Concussion in WNBA Finals

Mercury’s prominent power forward, Satou Sabally, has been diagnosed with a concussion and will not participate in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals, the team announced this Thursday.

The Mercury are at a disadvantage 3-0 against the Aces in the best-of-seven series, after Wednesday’s loss with a score of 90-88.

Sabally suffered the injury during the game while fighting for a rebound, with 4:26 remaining in regulation. Her head impacted with the Aces defender, Kierstan Bell’s leg. A loose ball foul was called on Jackie Young of the Aces on the play, but after a review by the referees, the foul was not upgraded.

Sabally remained on the floor for several minutes and appeared dazed as she left the court with the help of her teammates and Mercury staff. She did not return to the game, finishing with 24 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.

This is Sabally’s first season with the Mercury, after spending her first five seasons with the Wings, who selected her at number 2 in the 2020 WNBA draft.

Sabally has led the Mercury in scoring throughout the postseason, averaging 19.0 points per game.
