Norwegian tennis player Casper Ruud will miss Wimbledon due to a knee injury, according to his management team who informed local media on Saturday. Ruud, currently ranked number 16 in the world and a two-time French Open finalist, suffered an unexpected elimination in the second round of the clay-court Grand Slam last month, losing to Nuno Borges of Portugal. After his defeat, the player revealed that he had been dealing with knee problems for a while. Since then, he has been absent from competition, including his withdrawal from the grass tournament in Mallorca.

He’s back on the court and things are going well, but it seems that playing best-of-five sets is, unfortunately, a bit early. Gstaad will be next for Casper now.

Ruud’s best performance at Wimbledon is three appearances in the second round. Wimbledon will start on June 30, while the Swiss Open in Gstaad will begin on July 14.
