Raducanu Advances in Montreal: Victory Over Ruse and Heading to the US Open
Emma Raducanu defeated her friend Elena-Gabriela Ruse in Montreal. Emma Raducanu, after her semi-final defeat in Washington D.C., achieved a straight-sets victory over Elena-Gabriela Ruse at the Canadian Open on Monday.

Just two days after her defeat to Anna Kalinskaya, Raducanu showed that the good performance displayed in the American capital was not a coincidence, by defeating the world number 58 with a score of 6-2, 6-4.

The British tennis player has been focused on adapting to the pace of hard courts in preparation for the US Open, which will begin on August 17. Raducanu had to defend herself in the early stages, saving five break points on her serve in the second set. However, she reacted to win five consecutive games. Ruse competed in the second set, where both players exchanged breaks, but it was Raducanu who managed to prevail and secure her place in the second round.

I’m happy to have overcome that, I know Elena and she is a very good friend of mine. It’s very difficult to play against someone close to you.

Raducanu will face American Peyton Stearns in the second round.
