Rafael Nadal Warns About Fake Videos Generated with AI

The legendary tennis player Rafael Nadal has issued a warning about the proliferation of fake videos online that use his image and voice to offer financial advice. The athlete, now retired from the courts, denounced the use of artificial intelligence to create misleading content. Through his LinkedIn account, Nadal expressed his concern about the detection of these fraudulent videos. In them, he is falsely attributed with investment recommendations and other financial proposals that, according to the tennis player, do not come from him.

“I want to share this message of caution, something unusual on my social media, but necessary. In recent days, along with my team, we have detected fake videos circulating on some platforms. These were generated with artificial intelligence, showing a figure that imitates my image and my voice. In those videos, I am falsely attributed advice or investment proposals that in no case come from me,” wrote Nadal.

Nadal emphasized that it is “misleading advertising, completely unrelated” to him and highlighted the importance of society learning to discern between real and manipulated information. He also urged a “ethical and responsible use of technology”. The tennis player acknowledged the potential of artificial intelligence, but also warned about the risks associated with its misuse, such as the creation of false content that can confuse and deceive people.
