Italy Crowned Davis Cup Champion Without Sinner
Italy has once again demonstrated its dominance in the Davis Cup, securing its fourth title in the competition, and the third consecutive. On this occasion, the Italian team achieved victory without the presence of its star, Jannik Sinner. Matteo Berrettini and Flavio Cobolli shone as the heroes of the Italian team, winning their singles matches and securing an insurmountable 2-0 lead over Spain in Sunday’s final.Sinner, world number two and a key player in Italy’s recent successes, chose not to participate in this edition, preferring to focus on preparation for the upcoming season. Lorenzo Musetti, number 8 in the world, was also not present. Despite these absences, Italy demonstrated its strength, winning all its matches this week by 2-0 at the SuperTennis Arena in Bologna, after eliminating Austria in the quarterfinals and Belgium in the semifinals. Spain, for its part, was also deprived of its star, Carlos Alcaraz, number one in the world. It is the fourth Davis Cup title for Italy and the third consecutive. The last nation to win three titles in a row was the United States, which won five in a row from 1968 to 1972.
Statement on the Italian achievement
