Taylor Fritz Starts Strong at the DC Open

The American tennis player Taylor Fritz, seeded number one, started his hard court season in North America on the right foot. Fritz demonstrated his power by connecting 11 aces and saving the only break point he faced, securing a 6-3 and 6-2 victory over Aleksandar Vukic at the DC Open.

Fritz arrives at this tournament after reaching the semifinals at Wimbledon, seeking to replicate his successful performance from last year at this stage of the season, where he reached his first Grand Slam final at the US Open.

After being exempt in the first round, Fritz will face Matteo Arnaldi in the third round, who eliminated Lorenzo Sonego, seed number 16, with a score of 7-5 and 7-5.

Other significant players who advanced in the tournament include Alex De Minaur (7), Daniil Medvedev (8), Flavio Cobolli (9), and Jiri Lehecka (11).

However, Andrey Rublev (5) suffered a defeat against the young American Learner Tien, 19 years old, with a score of 7-5 and 6-2. On the other hand, Alexei Popyrin (10) was defeated by the qualifier Wu Yibing, with partials of 7-5, 5-7 and 6-3.

Tien has achieved four victories over opponents ranked in the top 10 so far this season.
