Taylor Fritz secured the victory for Team World at the Laver Cup, after defeating Alexander Zverev with a score of 6-3, 7-6 (4). The match took place on Sunday, solidifying the team’s triumph in this prestigious competition. Fritz showed a blistering start at the Chase Center in San Francisco, although Zverev reacted and staged a comeback in the second set. However, Fritz remained calm, closing out the match firmly to secure the championship.

This triumph marked the third title for Team World in the last four years, and the first under the captaincy of Andre Agassi.

This victory reduced Team World’s lead to 12-9 in an event where each Sunday match was worth three points. Alex de Minaur of Australia brought Team World closer to the title after defeating Jakub Mensik 6-3, 6-4. De Minaur contributed seven points to his team over the weekend, including victories over Zverev and in doubles alongside Alex Michelsen on Saturday.
