Roger Federer dazzles in San Francisco with tricks and emotion
The legendary tennis player Roger Federer offered an unforgettable spectacle in San Francisco, demonstrating his skill with service tricks and shots between the legs that captivated young players. The visit is part of his support for the Laver Cup, an event that will be held this weekend at the Chase Center. Federer participated in the inauguration of six renovated courts at John McLaren Park, as part of the Laver Cup’s Community Legacy Project, which takes place at each tournament venue. He shared moments with Yannick Noah, captain of the European team, and enjoyed a game session with children, signing autographs and taking selfies with fans. The Swiss star, retired three years ago, was impressed with the black court of the Golden State Warriors’ stadium and expressed his desire to be able to play there.“Being in a public park like this, spending time with children, inspiring them and talking about tennis, is something that fills me with joy. I am very happy to be here and to return. The last time in March was great, they were very kind to me. So I’m happy to be here again,” commented Federer.

While players like Casper Ruud have already trained on the court, a formal practice day is scheduled for Thursday so that fans can see the stars in action. Patrick Rafter, assistant to Team World captain Andre Agassi, looks forward to the support of the public in a venue where Stephen Curry, a figure of the Golden State Warriors, is usually the center of attention.“It’s a special place. I’m a little sad I can’t play, because I would have loved to. I spoke with Tim Henman at the hotel and I told him: ‘This would be an incredible place to play tennis.’ I’ll miss it, but I’ll enjoy it as a fan,” added Federer.

“They are important names worldwide, with Stephen Curry at the forefront. We look forward to meeting them all, spending time together. We are in an incredible place. I didn’t realize so many people could fit: 18,000. Playing tennis here is going to be great. Seeing the guys warm up, it’s an impressive setting,” said Rafter.
