Jack Draper adds Jamie Delgado as head coach

In a major restructuring of his team, British tennis player Jack Draper will begin working with Jamie Delgado, who was previously Andy Murray’s coach. Draper, currently number one in Great Britain, has maintained a long collaboration with James Trotman. However, Delgado will assume the role of head coach and will accompany Draper in most tournaments. Delgado, former British Davis Cup player and holder of the record for consecutive Wimbledon appearances with 23, began working with Murray in 2016, initially alongside Ivan Lendl, during the most successful period of the Scot’s career. Delgado remained on Murray’s team until the end of the 2021 season and subsequently coached Denis Shapovalov and Grigor Dimitrov.

Both players praised Delgado’s impact.

The agreement will begin in the preseason. Draper is currently in the process of recovering from a left arm injury that has limited him to only one match since Wimbledon. After his elimination in the second round at the All England Club, Draper was diagnosed with a bone contusion. His attempt to return at the US Open ended with his withdrawal before the second round, which forced him to conclude his season early. This frustrated the 23-year-old player’s aspirations to participate in the ATP Finals for the first time, and Draper dropped to eighth place in the ranking during his absence. He is expected to return to the court at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown final in London, which will be held in December.
