Djokovic Cancels Practice at Wimbledon After “Nasty Fall”
WIMBLEDON, England – Novak Djokovic, the seven-time champion, canceled his afternoon practice session at Wimbledon this Thursday, a day after suffering a “nasty” fall moments before securing his quarterfinal victory. Djokovic, 38 years old, will face number 1, Jannik Sinner, in the semifinals on Friday. The incident occurred when he slipped and fell on his second match point against Flavio Cobolli, seeded number 22. Despite the fall, Djokovic won the next two points to advance. Djokovic’s practice session at Wimbledon’s Aorangi Park was scheduled for 1-3 p.m. The All England Club confirmed the cancellation of the session, although Djokovic has the option to reschedule his practice time later. Sinner also canceled his own practice session a day after injuring his right elbow during his fourth-round victory over Grigor Dimitrov. However, he managed to beat Ben Shelton, number 10, in straight sets on Wednesday.Djokovic described his fall as “an unpleasant fall. It was very uncomfortable.”My body is not the same today as before, so I guess the real impact or the effect of what happened I will feel tomorrow. Let’s hope that in the next 24, 48 hours the severity of what happened on the court is not so bad, that I can play as well as possible and without pain in two days.
