The Davis Cup Finals 8 in Bologna marks the sixth edition of the renewed event, where the champion is defined in a neutral venue.
Carlos Alcaraz, world number one and recent runner-up at the ATP Finals in Turin, withdrew from the tournament due to a hamstring injury.
Spain will face the Czech Republic, while Germany will play against Argentina in the remaining quarterfinals.
