Alcaraz suffered the injury during last week’s ATP Finals, where a muscle overload and edema in the right hamstring were diagnosed. The tennis player returns home with a “broken heart”. Alcaraz’s participation in the Davis Cup dates back to 2022, with an overall record of 6-2 and 5-1 in singles. Spain has not won the tournament since 2019. Last year, Alcaraz also missed the Davis Cup due to physical problems. Spain was eliminated in the first round of the Final 8 in Malaga. Alcaraz had expressed his desire to win the Davis Cup, considering it a very important tournament. Spain would face the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals in Bologna, a team that has Top 20 players like Jiri Lehecka and Jakub Mensik. Alcaraz secured the number 1 ranking at the end of the year before losing against Jannik Sinner in the ATP Finals. He also finished at number 1 in 2022, being the youngest to achieve it at 19 years old. This year, Alcaraz won the French Open and the US Open, adding six Grand Slam titles.
