Villarreal close to signing Renato Veiga from Chelsea
Villarreal is about to finalize the signing of Chelsea defender Renato Veiga for a sum close to 30 million euros.
Veiga, 22, joined Chelsea last summer from Basel for around 14 million euros, but only started one Premier League match before being loaned to Juventus during the second half of the season.
Sources indicate that Villarreal will initially pay 25 million euros, with an additional 5 million in bonuses. The agreement also includes a sale clause.
Veiga would become the eleventh player to leave Chelsea this summer, in a very active transfer window for the London club.
Veiga played 18 games for Chelsea in total, scoring two goals in Conference League matches against Gent and Astana.
He was also a substitute in Portugal’s victory over Spain in the Nations League final in June.
