Xabi Alonso Confirms Possible Signings for Real Madrid

Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso has revealed that the club is seriously considering the possibility of adding new players to its squad for next season. This statement comes after the resounding 4-0 defeat against Paris-Saint Germain in the Club World Cup semi-final.

“We haven’t talked about it during the Club World Cup, but from now on we are open to making improvements. We are always looking to improve and there is room for it,” Alonso stated.

Luka Modrić Says Goodbye to Real Madrid

Luka Modrić’s illustrious career at Real Madrid has come to an end. Despite the painful defeat, the Croatian midfielder’s legacy transcends a single match. Modrić, winner of the Ballon d’Or in 2018 and the most decorated player of the Spanish club, will join AC Milan after playing his last match with Madrid at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Since his arrival from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, the 39-year-old player played 597 matches and won 28 titles with Real Madrid, including six Champions Leagues.

“This is not the desired end, it is a bitter end, but he will not be remembered for today’s game, but for other great ones,” commented Alonso, who shared a dressing room with Modrić during his time as a player at Real Madrid.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois also expressed that Modrić’s absence will leave a void.

“Modrić always receives an ovation, not just from Real Madrid fans. He is a great player, a great teammate and we will miss him,” said the Belgian.
