Sergio Ramos Praises Sergio Busquets After Retirement Announcement

Former Real Madrid and Spanish national team captain Sergio Ramos has paid tribute to Inter Miami player Sergio Busquets, calling him “one of the most brilliant midfielders” he has played with. Busquets announced his retirement at the end of the 2025 Major League Soccer season. Despite being rivals at the club level, Ramos and Busquets were part of the Spanish national team that won the 2010 World Cup and the 2008 and 2012 European Championships.

“Busi, you are the definition of how to be exceptional without ceasing to be a normal guy,” wrote Ramos, now at Mexican Monterrey, on social media.

Ramos continued to highlight Busquets’ class, vision, and footballing quality, as well as his humility and authenticity. “Football loses one of the most brilliant midfielders I have played with, but you leave with the recognition and gratitude of all those who have accompanied you and all those who love this sport.”
The club where Busquets played for 18 seasons, Barcelona, described him as a “legend”. Busquets won nine LaLiga titles, three Champions League trophies, and seven Copa del Rey titles before joining Inter Miami in 2023.

“The Club of your life. A legend in our Club. Thank you for all the football, Sergio!”, Barcelona published.
