PSG vs. Marseille Classic Positioned for Monday Due to Storms

The anticipated clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille, known as “Le Classique”, has been rescheduled for Monday night. The decision was made due to the severe storms forecast for Sunday. This modification in the calendar coincides with the Ballon d’Or ceremony, which will take place at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. Several prominent figures from PSG are expected to be awarded at the event. Among the Ballon d’Or nominees is Ousmane Dembélé, a key player for PSG. In addition, nine other players from the club are also on the list of nominees. The time clash between the match and the Ballon d’Or ceremony presents a dilemma for Dembélé, who will have to decide which of the events to attend.
  • The PSG boss believes voters would be “incompetent” if Dembélé doesn’t win the Ballon d’Or.
Dembélé, along with his teammate Désiré Doué, were not included in coach Luis Enrique’s squad for the match against Marseille due to injuries. The Bouches-du-Rhône region, where Marseille is located, is on orange alert for heavy rain, flooding, and thunderstorms. Last year, the Ballon d’Or ceremony was affected by the absence of Real Madrid, European champions at the time, due to the non-inclusion of Vinícius Júnior among the winners. This year, the ceremony faces a similar situation, although for different reasons. PSG, who won the Champions League in May and the European Super Cup in August, will be affected by the rescheduling of the match.
