Palmer, substituted after 20 minutes: Chelsea struggles against Manchester United

Cole Palmer was one of three changes made by Chelsea after only 20 minutes of play in their Premier League match against Manchester United on Saturday.

Chelsea, visiting Old Trafford, suffered a nightmare start. They were down to ten men after five minutes, following a foul by goalkeeper Robert Sánchez on Bryan Mbeumo.

Coach Enzo Maresca reacted immediately from the bench, making changes. Goalkeeper Filip Jørgensen came on for Estêvão and Tosin Adarabioyo for Pedro Neto.

After conceding a goal by a goal from Bruno Fernandes, captain of United, Chelsea made another change, this time with Palmer leaving for Andre Santos.

Although Palmer seemed to be touched, his gesture as he left the field did not reflect joy, and his substitution was met with ironic applause from the United fans.

He appeared to greet United substitute Kobbie Mainoo before heading to the tunnel.

Palmer, 23, was playing his first league game since August, after recovering from an injury.
