Tyler Morton Switches Liverpool for Lyon in Permanent Transfer

The England Under-21 midfielder, Tyler Morton, has finalized his transfer to Lyon, coming from Liverpool, in a permanent transfer, as announced by the clubs this Tuesday. Liverpool will receive a sum of £15 million (approximately $20 million) for the player’s transfer to the French team. Morton, 22, was trained in Liverpool’s youth categories and played 14 games with the first team. Last season, he participated in five matches, although none in the Premier League, where the Merseyside club won the title.

After debuting with Liverpool in September 2021, Morton spent the following two seasons on loan in the Championship, first with Blackburn Rovers and then with Hull City. Morton played a prominent role in England’s victory at the European Under-21 Championship this summer, coming on as a substitute in the final and assisting in the goal that secured the victory against Germany in extra time. Lyon will remain in Ligue 1 next season after winning an appeal against their relegation to the second division due to financial problems.
