Marseille: Rabiot and Rowe Out of the Team After Altercation
Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi has made a drastic decision regarding Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe, informing them that they will not play for the club again. The measure comes after a physical altercation between the two players following the team’s defeat against Rennes on the opening day of the French league season.
On Tuesday, Marseille confirmed that both players have been placed on the transfer list and have until September 1st to find a new club.
“This decision was made due to unacceptable behavior in the locker room after the match against Stade Rennais FC, in accordance with the coaching staff and in compliance with the club’s internal code of conduct,” the Ligue 1 club announced in an official statement.

The decision was communicated to the two players on Monday.Adrien Rabiot ha sido puesto en la lista de transferibles por el Marsella.Rabiot, who has one year left on his contract, has sparked the interest of his former club, Juventus, and Inter Milan, while Premier League teams are also monitoring the situation. Rowe, who left Norwich a year ago to go to the south of France, also has options in England, with Sunderland and Leeds United.
According to sources, French international midfielder Rabiot, 30, and English U-21 international winger Rowe, 22, were excluded from the first team on Monday after a fight following Marseille’s defeat in Rennes.
Tension erupted in the locker room after the defeat in a match in which Marseille played with 11 men against 10 for an hour. Rabiot accused Rowe of lack of commitment, according to sources, and they insulted each other in front of the whole team before coming to blows.
De Zerbi, they added the sources, was also frustrated with Rabiot’s behavior in the preseason, believing that he was not committed enough, despite being the best player of Marseille last season and the highest earner on the team.
Rowe’s services have already been offered to several clubs, despite having been a starter in the match against Rennes.
