Liverpool Seeks to Bolster its Attack with Alexander Isak
Liverpool has shown interest in signing Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak this summer transfer window, according to sources close to the club. The search for a quality center forward is a priority for the Reds.
The current Premier League champion is in the market for a new center forward, given the uncertainty about the future of Darwin Núñez, who could leave the club. Napoli is one of the teams interested in the Uruguayan international.
Liverpool rejected a 67.5 million euro offer from Bayern Munich for forward Luis Díaz last Tuesday. Although they haven’t yet submitted a formal offer for Isak, the Reds have contacted Newcastle to assess his availability, as they have done with other attacking targets.Alexander Isak anotó contra el Liverpool en la final de la Copa de la Liga en marzo. Liverpool has already broken its transfer record to sign Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz in a deal that could rise to £116 million. Newcastle is likely to demand a higher fee to allow Isak to leave this summer.
Sources also report that Newcastle is working on a deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, with the intention of him playing alongside Isak in attack.
Liverpool have also been linked with the player, but it is understood that they are not convinced by the 23-year-old player, and Newcastle are expected to improve their offer to Frankfurt in the coming days.
