Liverpool not planning new bid for Alexander Isak

Liverpool, according to sources close to the club, does not plan to submit a second offer for striker Alexander Isak, following the rejection of the first proposal by Newcastle United. The team led by Arne Slot had offered up to 110 million pounds (145 million dollars), a figure lower than the 150 million pounds (197 million dollars) valuation that Newcastle has on the player. However, Newcastle’s response was such that Liverpool considers it pointless to make a second offer at this time. This stance could change if the Tyneside club finds a suitable replacement in the transfer market and shows a willingness to let Isak go this summer.
Alexander Isak
The Swedish international is not participating in Newcastle’s Asian tour, due to a “minor thigh injury”, according to the club, and is recovering at the training facilities of Real Sociedad, his former club. Liverpool showed interest in Isak despite having signed striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal that could reach £79 million ($105 million). The possible departure of Luis Díaz to Bayern Munich for £65.5 million ($49.5 million) could help finance any deal. Newcastle maintains its position of wanting to keep its star striker. Isak missed last weekend’s match against Arsenal in Singapore and the match against a K-League combined team. He will also not play against Tottenham Hotspur in South Korea on Sunday.

Isak has established himself as one of the most lethal strikers in the Premier League since he arrived at Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022. Last season, he scored 23 goals in 34 Premier League matches, only behind Mohamed Salah’s 29 in the race for the Golden Boot. Isak’s goal against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final in March gave Newcastle their first domestic trophy in 70 years.
