Isak bids farewell to Newcastle after his record transfer to Liverpool

Swedish striker Alexander Isak has expressed his gratitude towards Newcastle United, following his transfer to Liverpool in a record operation for British football. Isak, 25 years old, joined Liverpool on the last day of the transfer market for a figure of 125 million pounds sterling (approximately 170 million dollars) and signed a six-year contract with the club. Isak’s signing for Liverpool ends a long saga, after the player practically went on strike seeking a transfer during the summer and did not participate in Newcastle’s preseason or the first three Premier League matches. Through an Instagram post, Isak shared his feelings.

I want to express my gratitude to my teammates, the staff and, above all, to the city of Newcastle and all the incredible fans for the three unforgettable years we shared together.

The Swedish striker continued his message.

Together, we have written history and brought the club to where it truly belongs. It has been an honor to be part of the journey, from reaching the Champions League to winning the first trophy in over 70 years. Always grateful. Thank you, Newcastle.

The Newcastle statement said: “Newcastle United announces the sale of striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool for a significant British record transfer fee.” Isak, 25 years old, scored 54 goals in 86 Premier League matches with Newcastle.
