Isak Focuses on the Future with Liverpool and Leaves the Past Behind
Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has revealed that he has not had any communication with his former coach, Eddie Howe, since leaving Newcastle United. The player prefers not to revisit the controversy of his transfer during the summer.
Isak arrived at Liverpool in a record deal on the last day of the transfer market, after having been on strike at Newcastle with the aim of forcing his transfer. The 26-year-old player received criticism for his tactics, but now considers it best for everyone to leave the situation behind.
“I don’t want to dwell on that now,” Isak commented at a press conference before Sweden’s World Cup qualifier against Switzerland. “It doesn’t benefit anyone, neither me nor Newcastle, so let’s leave it at that.”

The Swedish international has managed a goal and an assist in six appearances for Liverpool so far, although his playing time has been managed while he recovers fully.
The team led by Arne Slot is in second position in the Premier League, after having lost three consecutive matches for the first time since 2023.
“I’m working hard to push myself and play my game,” Isak affirmed. “Things have been a bit more difficult for us. I think that as the team improves and things start to flow better, I will also do better.”
Isak also expressed his satisfaction with his new stage at Liverpool.
“I’ve been very happy so far. A city where the team has a very good relationship with the fans, which is important. It’s been nice so far.”
Looking ahead to the World Cup qualifying campaign with Sweden, Isak added: “I’m ready to play 90 minutes if necessary. It’s been a month. I’ve had much more playing time and things have calmed down. I feel in a much better position now than last time.”
