Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has revealed that he has not been in contact with his former coach, Eddie Howe, since his controversial departure from Newcastle United. The Swedish player prefers to leave behind the drama of his transfer last summer.
Isak, who joined Liverpool in a record signing for British football on the last day of the market, spent much of the summer on strike at Newcastle, seeking to force his transfer. Although his tactics drew criticism, he now believes it is best for all involved to leave the situation behind.
“It’s not something I want to dwell on now,” Isak stated in a press conference before Sweden’s World Cup qualifier against Switzerland. “It doesn’t benefit anyone, neither me nor Newcastle, so let it be.”

“I’m working hard to push myself and play my game,” Isak said. “Things have been a little more difficult for us. I think that as the team improves and things start to flow better, I will also do better.”
“So far I have been very happy. It’s a city where the team has a very good relationship with the fans, which is important. It’s been nice so far.”
Regarding the World Cup qualifying campaign with Sweden, Isak added: “I am ready to play 90 minutes if necessary. It’s been a month. I’ve had much more playing time and things have calmed down. I feel in a much better position now than last time.”
