Bruno Guimarães talks about Alexander Isak’s situation at Newcastle
Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimarães has addressed the situation surrounding Alexander Isak’s future, describing it as a “difficult situation” for the team. Guimarães expressed that the team “really misses” their star striker.
Isak did not participate in Newcastle’s recent 3-2 defeat to Liverpool, amid rumors about his possible departure from St James’ Park.
The Swedish striker was the subject of a rejected £110 million bid from Liverpool earlier this month. Although Isak has his sights set on a move to Anfield, Newcastle remains firm in its intention to retain the 25-year-old player.
I haven’t had contact with him. We’ve been training in the mornings, and he trains on a different schedule, when no one from the team is around.

Guimarães added that, as captain and on behalf of the players, it is a complicated situation, as they want to have the best players on the team. However, he acknowledges that the situation is being managed by the club, the board of directors and the owners, hoping that it will be resolved in the best possible way.
The midfielder also highlighted the absence of Isak, a key player who scored more than 20 goals in the Premier League last season. Guimarães expressed his hope of having his best player back, but regretted that this is a situation beyond the control of the players.
Newcastle chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan attended the match against Liverpool, amid reports of talks with Isak to reintegrate him into the team.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe commented that he is not involved in the conversations and is unaware of the state of the situation.
