Højlund’s Future at Manchester United: Uncertainty on the Horizon
Manchester United has not yet made a final decision on the future of Rasmus Højlund, according to sources close to the club, in anticipation of the summer transfer market. All options are on the table for the striker. The long-term trajectory of the striker at Old Trafford has been compromised after a complicated second season, where the 22-year-old player only scored four goals in the Premier League. United are still looking for a center forward, despite not having finalized the signing of Liam Delap, who joined Chelsea. The club is also monitoring Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP, among others. Representatives of Højlund held talks with United’s directors last week to discuss plans for the Danish international. The club has received calls from several teams, including Inter Milan, who have requested to be informed about developments. Sources indicate that United is not ruling out any possibility, whether it be keeping Højlund on the team or allowing a loan for a season.During his participation with the Denmark national team, Højlund expressed his desire to stay at the club. “I’m looking forward to going on summer vacation and then I’ll be totally dedicated to the project that’s underway,” added Højlund. “I know I can’t get much from reading things. I know what the facts are, and that is that I have a contract with Manchester United. I hope to play there, so I’m preparing for a summer vacation and then, hopefully, a good preseason.”I have a contract [until 2028], so I hope to play at Manchester United [next season].
