Erling Haaland has expressed that there are no excuses for Manchester City’s disappointing season, insisting that the team’s performance has not been sufficient.

City has ceded the Premier League title to Liverpool and failed to advance in the Champions League, being eliminated by Real Madrid.

Although injuries to key players like Rodri have influenced, Haaland believes the campaign has been disappointing due to a decrease in “hunger” within the team, after years of unprecedented success, including four consecutive league titles and a treble in 2023.

Of course, excuses can be found, injuries, many injuries at bad times, but in the end we haven’t been performing well enough.

Haaland was offside for the last month due to an ankle injury suffered in the 2-1 victory over Bournemouth in March.

The forward has already returned to training and was a substitute in the 1-0 victory over Wolves last weekend.

His return comes at a crucial moment, with City fighting to qualify for next season’s Champions League and looking to win the FA Cup, where they will face Crystal Palace in the final on May 17.

Haaland, who has scored 30 goals in 40 matches this season, is expected to participate in the match against Southampton on Saturday to be in top form before the final at Wembley.

It was horrible being injured, but what can you do? You have to recover as quickly as possible and get back in the best shape you can. Now I’m back with a lot of energy. I feel good and I move well, and I’m ready.
