Bruno Guimarães on Al Ittihad’s radar: Transfer rumors?

Newcastle United’s Brazilian midfielder, Bruno Guimarães, could be in the sights of Al Ittihad, current champion of the Saudi Pro League. According to sources close to the matter, the Saudi club would be willing to pay the player’s release clause, which amounts to 120 million euros (135 million dollars).

Alexis Malavolta, Guimarães’ agent, met with Al Ittihad’s board of directors in Saudi Arabia last week, showing the club’s interest in the 27-year-old player as a priority for next season.

Guimarães’ current contract with Newcastle extends until the end of the 2027-28 season.

Although concrete salary figures have not yet been discussed, the player’s representation would not consider an offer below between 40 and 50 million euros (45 and 56 million dollars) annually, according to sources.

Bruno Guimarães has been a key player for Newcastle since his arrival from Lyon in January 2022.

In addition to Al Ittihad, Al Hilal, Neymar’s former club, would also be interested in signing the Brazilian. However, Al Hilal considers Guimarães as a secondary option, as their main objective is to sign Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

In the current season, Guimarães has scored five goals and provided nine assists in 53 appearances for Newcastle and the Brazilian national team. He also contributed to Newcastle ending a 70-year drought without national titles, achieving victory over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.
