FIFA aims for one billion dollars in revenue for the Women’s World Cup

Gianni Infantino, FIFA president, announced that the organization aims to generate one billion dollars in revenue from the upcoming Women’s World Cup. The announcement was made during the Saudi Arabia-U.S. 2025 Investment Forum in Riyadh.

The 2023 Women’s World Cup, held in Australia and New Zealand, broke even, generating over $570 million in revenue.

“Women’s football and women in football are crucially important,” Infantino stated.

Infantino also highlighted the exponential growth of women’s football and the intention to reinvest the generated income in the development of the sport.

The 2027 Women’s World Cup will be held in Brazil, marking the first edition in South America. The United States is on track to host the 2031 edition, which will expand to 48 teams.

Infantino also highlighted the potential to generate greater revenue for football outside of Europe.

In addition, he praised Saudi Arabia for its progress in women’s football, highlighting the creation of a league and a women’s national team.
