Luis Díaz, suspended for three matches after his expulsion in the Champions League
Bayern Munich winger Luis Díaz has been suspended for three matches by UEFA, following the red card received in the match against Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.
UEFA determined that Díaz committed “serious foul play” in his tackle on Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi, in stoppage time of the first half of the Champions League match, which Bayern won 2-1 at the Parc des Princes.
Díaz scored two goals and received a red card in the first half against PSG.
Díaz had an outstanding performance in Paris, scoring both of Bayern’s goals in the first half before being sent off.
The Colombian international will miss Bayern’s match against Arsenal on Wednesday, as well as the home matches against Sporting CP (December 9) and Union Saint-Gilloise (January 21).Luis Díaz ha sido sancionado con tres partidos por su entrada a Achraf Hakimi del Paris Saint-Germain.Bayern currently leads the Champions League table with the maximum points after four matches.
Díaz has been a key figure for Bayern Munich during a record-breaking start to the season, in which they won their first 16 matches in all competitions, before drawing 2-2 with Union Berlin.
After joining from Liverpool this summer, Díaz has 11 goals and seven assists in his first 17 appearances.
Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany is also concerned about Serge Gnabry’s fitness and expects not to have the forward for Saturday’s Bundesliga match against Freiburg.
Gnabry played the full 90 minutes in Germany’s 6-0 victory over Slovakia, securing his place in next summer’s World Cup, but has returned to training with his club with a muscle injury.
Serge returned from international commitments and still felt a pinch. We’ll see, he probably won’t be involved against Freiburg, we hope it will be for the game after that.
