Deco Trusts in Lamine Yamal’s Continuity at FC Barcelona
FC Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, has expressed his confidence that Lamine Yamal will sign a new contract with the club. Deco anticipates that the young winger will continue his career with the team, forming part of a promising generation of footballers.
Yamal, whose current contract expires in 2026, is in talks to extend his contractual link upon turning 18 in July. The player has established himself as a key figure in the team this season.

Alongside talents like Pau Cubarsí, Alejandro Balde, and Pedri, Yamal is part of the core of a young team that is close to securing the LaLiga title. The victory in the Clásico against Real Madrid brings the team closer to winning the championship, needing only two points in the remaining three matches.
A player must be happy where he is, and I don’t see a better place for Lamine.

Deco highlighted the importance of Yamal staying at the club, emphasizing his roots and the opportunity to make history with this generation of players. “I don’t see any problem, especially because he has a contract until 2026. The renewal will end up happening,” he added.
This season, Yamal has contributed significantly to Barça’s attack, adding 16 goals and 24 assists in all competitions, alongside Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, forming part of a culé attack that has scored 167 goals in 57 matches.
Deco also suggested that the team might need more alternatives for Yamal and Raphinha, who have been pillars in the team’s attack. “Perhaps we need similar players, a solution for them when they are not available. But the squad is quite balanced and we have many good players coming from the youth teams as well,” he commented.
Barça could secure the LaLiga title in the coming days, depending on the results of their rivals.
