Chelsea Secures Jamie Gittens: A Stellar Signing from Borussia Dortmund

Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign English winger Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, the Bundesliga club announced. The 20-year-old is ready to sign a seven-year contract, in a deal that, according to sources, amounts to 55 million pounds (approximately 75.02 million dollars). The clubs are currently in the United States for the Club World Cup, where both have reached the quarter-final stage. The agreement was finalized in Fort Lauderdale, pending resolution of salary details. Gittens joined Dortmund in 2020 as a youth player, coming from Manchester City, and made his first-team debut in 2022. He has played 107 matches for the German team in all competitions, scoring 17 goals. Last season was particularly outstanding for Gittens, with 12 goals in 48 matches in all competitions, including four in the Champions League.

“Jamie Gittens’ career is an example of talent development at Borussia,” stated Lars Ricken, Dortmund’s managing director, in a club statement.

Chelsea is looking to reinforce their left wing after deciding not to make Jadon Sancho’s loan from Manchester United permanent. This signing represents another important addition for Chelsea, following the arrival of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town and João Pedro from Brighton and Hove Albion.
