I think in the future, yes [I would like to be a coach], but for now I prefer to take a break,” Busquets told reporters. “It’s a lot of time, almost without weekends. Like any footballer, obviously playing for the national team and everything gives you a plus, but you also have less time.

Busquets explained that he wants to enjoy more time with his family, travel, and watch football from a different perspective. Although in theory he considers the possibility of coaching in the future, he prefers to focus on the present. Busquets, who debuted with Barcelona in 2008, is retiring after almost 20 years as a footballer, a period in which he became a key player for the Catalan club, the Spanish national team, and Inter Miami.
Sergio Busquets was honored alongside his family and Inter Miami co-owners, Jorge and Jose Mas. Despite feeling physically well and playing many matches during the season, Busquets believes that the decision to retire is the right one, not only physically but also mentally.

I like to finish well in places, to finish good stories by my own choice. I think it has been like that. I could keep playing, yes, I feel good, I play many games during the season, but I am not 20 years old, I try to help the team,” said Busquets.

Busquets has already made history with Inter Miami, being part of the team that lifted the Leagues Cup 2023 trophy, the Supporters’ Shield 2024, and established the league record for the most points recorded in a single season. Although the MLS regular season concludes on October 18, Inter Miami has qualified for the playoffs, guaranteeing additional matches for the 37-year-old player. Currently, Inter Miami is in third place in the Eastern Conference standings with 59 points in 32 games.
