Arsenal has shown interest in central defender Piero Hincapié, currently at Bayer Leverkusen, according to sources close to the club.

The team led by Mikel Arteta has already reinforced its defense with the incorporation of Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia. However, it is rumored that the club is evaluating the possibility of adding another defender while negotiating the transfer of Jakub Kiwior to Porto.

The situation is complicated by Arsenal’s need to sell players to generate funds before making new signings. Fabio Vieira, Reiss Nelson, and Oleksandr Zinchenko are some of the players whose future in the Premier League team is uncertain.

Last week, it was reported that Hincapié was on the radar of several Premier League clubs, and now sources indicate that Arsenal is the best-positioned team to sign him if he leaves Leverkusen.

Hincapié has a release clause of around 60 million euros (70 million dollars), but Arsenal will try to negotiate to reduce that amount.

However, the agreement will not be easy, as the 23-year-old player has a contract with Leverkusen until 2029 and the Bundesliga club intends to keep him.
