Arteta Acknowledges Limitations in Arsenal Squad
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s coach, has stated that the team started the season with a “very short” squad and with several players prone to injuries, a situation for which “nothing could be done”.
The Gunners are preparing to visit Liverpool this Sunday, where they will perform a guard of honor in honor of their opponents, who were crowned Premier League champions two weeks ago.
Arteta’s team faces its fifth consecutive season without titles, after being eliminated from the Champions League in the semi-finals by Paris Saint-Germain.
Arsenal has dealt with injury problems throughout the season. Key players like Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, and Ben White have been out for extended periods. Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Magalhães, and Takehiro Tomiyasu suffered injuries that prevented them from finishing the season.
We knew from the beginning that our squad was very short and that some players had a high probability of getting injured, because that’s what had happened to them in recent seasons. We can’t do anything about it.

Arteta highlighted Liverpool’s consistency, which had ten outfield players who played more than 30 league games this season. “You need many ingredients to win titles, and Liverpool did it extremely well.”
Arsenal is planning to be active in the summer market and is expected to make signings to strengthen its squad.
The team is looking for a forward and has Benjamin Sesko from Red Bull Leipzig, Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting Lisbon, and Alexander Isak from Newcastle on its list.
“We will do everything we can to improve the team, especially the players we already have, and we will try to take advantage of any opportunity that gives us a better chance of winning,” Arteta added.
