Arsenal Seeks Excellence: Arteta Reveals Players’ Desire to Shorten Holidays

Mikel Arteta has revealed that the Arsenal squad has requested to shorten their summer vacation. The main objective is to prepare in the best way for the next Premier League season and fight for the title.

Arsenal will face Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium, seeking to secure second place in the table. Following elimination in the Champions League semi-finals against Paris Saint-Germain, the team is looking to improve its performance.

The only title won by Arteta in his five and a half years in charge of the team was the FA Cup in 2020.

The coach commented on the attitude of the players, who want to be in the best possible shape. “Now they themselves demand to be in the best possible condition. We are very lucky because we have guys who want to spend the summer with their families and with them, so they also want to be together, so if they can choose a place where we can do that, we can facilitate it, more than welcome to do it,” Arteta said.

Arsenal are expected to be active in the transfer market this summer, with Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi as a possible first signing.

The club is also considering Joan García from Espanyol, Nico Williams from Athletic Club, and a forward, with Benjamin Sesko from Red Bull Leipzig, Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP, and Alexander Isak from Newcastle in their sights.

Speaking about the new sporting director, Andrea Berta, Arteta assured that there is no possibility that the club’s hierarchy is not completely aligned on the signing objectives.

If that happens, it means that we cannot explain ourselves well enough, and we are not clear enough about what we want, and I guarantee you that has not happened,” Arteta said.
