Antony Leaves Manchester United to Join Real Betis in a Million-Dollar Transfer
Manchester United and Real Betis have reached an agreement for the definitive transfer of Antony for a sum of 25 million euros (29.3 million dollars), according to sources close to the matter.
After negotiations briefly stalled on Friday, an agreement was reached on the final day of the deadline. Betis will pay a fixed fee of 22 million euros, with an additional 3 million in potential bonuses. United will also receive 50% of any future transfer of the player.
Antony, who still had two years remaining on his five-year contract signed after his arrival from Ajax in 2022, leaves the club. The 25-year-old winger leaves Old Trafford after playing 96 games in three years, where he scored 12 goals.
He hasn’t played for United since January and spent the second half of last season on loan at Betis.
His performance in the Spanish team, where he scored nine goals in 26 matches, convinced the club to make his transfer permanent.
He is expected to undergo a medical examination before finalizing personal terms.
Antony remains United’s second most expensive signing, behind Paul Pogba, who arrived for £86 million from Ajax.
He was excluded from Rúben Amorim’s squad for the pre-season tour of the United States and has been training separately at Carrington along with other members of the so-called “bomb squad”, including Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia.
