Amorim dreams of a dominant Manchester United: “I want to stay 20 years”

Manchester United coach Rúben Amorim has expressed his desire to stay at the club for “20 years” and is optimistic about the team’s future, assuring that they will conquer titles again in England and Europe. Amorim is preparing for his first full season in charge of the team, after a complicated start following his arrival at Old Trafford in November. Despite the challenges, the Portuguese coach, whose contract extends until 2027 with the option of one more year, has a long-term vision for the club.

I want to stay, I want to stay 20 years. That’s my goal and I really believe in that. Something is going to happen. It always happens. At some moments I will be lucky. I have been very lucky during my coaching career and my idea is to stay many years. But again, we know that the results will dictate that.

Last season, Manchester United finished in 15th position in the Premier League, their worst performance in over 50 years. However, Amorim is confident in reversing this situation and leading the team to the top.

Ruben Amorim se unió al Manchester United en noviembre, y el club sufrió su peor final en la Premier League.
The club’s last league title was in 2013, and the Champions League in 2008. Despite this wait, Amorim is convinced that success will return to Old Trafford.

I have no doubts. Because there are some things that cannot be bought and this club has them. The pedigree, the history, the fans. We have that. I think that’s clear. Then, the money. We have money. We have money without the Champions League. So we can, we will have money and more money in the future. And we are doing everything.

Amorim has established a new leadership group at Manchester United to address issues in the dressing room. Captain Bruno Fernandes leads this group, which also includes Lisandro Martínez, Harry Maguire, Diogo Dalot, Noussair Mazraoui, and Tom Heaton. The Portuguese coach has made important decisions to change the culture at Old Trafford, including measures with key players. He has also implemented new rules to improve the atmosphere in the club, from punctuality to the intensity of training.

We have new rules, and the rules are not to treat the players like babies. They have children. I treat them like men, but now they have rules. And that can change the way you train. If you don’t train the right way, I have images to show you. And I show it to you in front of everyone.
