Xabi Alonso Explains Rodrygo’s Absence in Real Madrid’s Debut
Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso clarified his decision to leave Rodrygo without minutes in the 1-0 victory against Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. The absence of the Brazilian player comes amid rumors of possible transfers to Premier League clubs.
Rodrygo, 24 years old, remained on the bench throughout Real Madrid’s opening LaLiga match, intensifying speculation about a possible team change. It has been reported that several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City, have shown interest in the forward.
Alonso, who arrived before the Club World Cup to replace Carlo Ancelotti, downplayed Rodrygo’s lack of minutes, stating that he still counts on the Brazilian striker.Rodrygo did not play in Real Madrid’s debut against Osasuna on Tuesday.“It was just one match. It’s just one match, we don’t have to read too much into the future.”

Rodrygo’s situation has sparked a debate in the Spanish media regarding his possible destination. Sources indicate that most of these are unfounded rumors and that there have been no official negotiations with other clubs. Real Madrid has also stated that no offers have been presented to date.
With less than a month until the transfer market closes, the situation could change. Sources suggest that if Rodrygo leaves, a transfer to the Premier League would be the most attractive option for the player.
