Wright Cautious After Lions’ Defeat

Australian fullback Tom Wright has expressed caution regarding the British & Irish Lions’ defeat to Argentina in their first tour match. The Lions arrived in Perth to prepare for their first match in Australia against Western Force, where they will seek to recover after losing 28-24 against the Pumas in Dublin.

Wright, in an interview in Sydney, commented on the Wallabies’ training camp for their preparation match against Fiji. The player added that he is not sure which team the Lions will present, as several important names did not play. Wright expects many high balls from the Lions during the July and August tests, but is confident that this will also generate opportunities. The player focuses on improving his aerial game and hopes this will give him advantages compared to Super Rugby.

Wright also highlighted the importance of taking advantage of counter-attack opportunities that may arise from over-kicked balls.

Wright, who was not included in the 2023 World Cup team, is aware of Fiji’s strength, their next opponent. The 27-year-old player said the Wallabies are preparing for the match in Newcastle, considering it crucial for their preparation for the clash against the Lions.
