With much at stake, the start of the match was promising for Scotland. Francesca McGhie opened the scoring with an outstanding run down the left wing in the first minute. Wales responded with composure, scoring through Alex Callender at 13 minutes, before McGhie got her second try shortly after. A penalty by Wales brought the score closer to 10-8, but Scotland responded by building attacking phases and being rewarded with a try by scrum-half Leia Brebner-Holden, who found space in the Welsh defense. In the second half, Scotland extended their lead, with McGhie completing his hat-trick and Evie Gallagher adding another try after a penalty in the scrum, leaving Wales with no answer.
