Garry Ringrose Misses Third Test Against Australia Due to Concussion
British and Irish Lions center Garry Ringrose will be unavailable for the third and final match of the series against Australia this weekend due to 12-day concussion protocols. Ringrose, who was initially selected for the second test in Melbourne, where the Lions secured the series with a victory, had to withdraw after experiencing concussion symptoms during a training session. The match on Saturday at Stadium Australia likely represented his last realistic chance to play a test for the Lions. Assistant coach Andrew Goodman expressed that the 30-year-old player was devastated by the situation.
“But he wanted to be a Lion in a test match, so it’s been devastating for him. Everyone knows Garry is a great guy and a great team player. Goodman added that the other players who were unavailable for the second test due to injuries, such as winger Mack Hansen (foot), second row Joe McCarthy (foot) and center Sione Tuipulotu (hamstring), participated in Tuesday’s training.“Garry was playing incredible rugby during this tour, and representing the Lions was a dream for him for a long time, and he managed to do it,” Goodman commented to reporters in Sydney.
